Because sleep impacts every aspect of a person’s health, we screen all of our patients for sleep-disordered breathing. At Dr. Matrullo and Associates we provide a variety custom-fit oral sleep appliances to help prevent upper airway collapse during sleep, and we work closely with our patients’ medical insurance to minimize their out of pocket expense.
Treatment for obstructive sleep apnea includes lifestyle changes, weight loss, and the use of CPAP. Oftentimes patients seek a CPAP alternative because they cannot—or will not—tolerate the device. Research has shown that oral appliance therapy is effective in treating OSA, and can even allow for lower effective therapeutic pressures when used in conjunction with CPAP.
